President Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore

On Aug, 26, 2013, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping spoke positively of the achievements of China-Singapore cooperation, stressing that China attaches importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with Singapore. Both sides should make concerted efforts, follow the past experience and look into the future, enhance political mutual trust, forge ahead in accordance with their own development strategies, deepen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, finance, people-to-people exchanges and social administration, so as to push forward bilateral relations for more stable and healthy development in the historical new era.

Xi Jinping pointed out that, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership. Looking back at these 10 years, mutual respect, mutual understanding, mutual trust and mutual support are the most precious treasure for China-ASEAN relations. China unswervingly adheres to the road of peaceful development, adheres to the policy of friendship and partnership with the neighbouring countries, and places China-ASEAN relations as the priority for its relations with neighbouring countries. China will continue to consolidate and deepen the strategic partnership with ASEAN. We as well hope that ASEAN will provide understanding and support for China's major concerns. The biggest challenge facing East Asia now is to cope with the impact of the global financial crisis and to maintain the strong growth momentum. We should focus on deepening cooperation and achieving common development and should strive to create a regional environment of peace, stability, equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation.

Lee Hsien Loong expressed, Singapore and China share extensive common interests and have conducted sound exchanges and cooperation in many fields. Singapore firmly adheres to the friendly policy towards China and is willing to further leverage the role of Singapore-China Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation, to tap potentials to the full, to focus on expanding cooperation in the fields of finance, sustainable development and economic transformation.

Lee Hsien Loong expressed that Singapore has a positive view on China and believes that China's development is an important opportunity for Singapore, for ASEAN and for the region as well. Singapore is willing to continue to join in the development and construction of China.

Lee Hsien Loong stressed that China is an important partner of ASEAN of dialogue and cooperation. ASEAN is willing to strengthen friendly relations with China. Singapore is willing to play a positive role in promoting ASEAN-China relations so as to jointly boost peace, stability and prosperity of this region.

Xi Jinping stressed that China is committed to realizing the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We will continue to unswervingly deepen reform and opening up, accelerate transforming the mode of economic growth, focus on running our own affairs well. China has the confidence to continue to maintain the sound momentum of economic growth. China is willing to work with all other countries in the world for win-win cooperation and common development.
