Ambassador Cao Zhongming Presents Letter of Credence to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam

On 30 April 2024, H.E. Cao Zhongming, China’s new Ambassador to Singapore, presented his Letter of Credence to H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore. 

Conveying President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings and best wishes to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Ambassador Cao said that China and Singapore are good neighbors and important partners, with pragmatic cooperation expanding across the board, benefiting people of both countries and in the whole region. Last year, China-Singapore relations were elevated to an “All-Round High-Quality Future-Oriented Partnership”, marking a whole new chapter for the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with Singapore to implement the important consensuses reached between leaders of both countries, and strive for new achievements in China-Singapore relations.

President Tharman welcomed Ambassador Cao to his new post, and requested Ambassador Cao to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi. President Tharman said that Singapore attaches great importance to Singapore-China relations, and is willing to deepen dialogue with China in all fields, enhance cooperation in areas such as digital economy and green development, and continue to strengthen Singapore-China relations. Singapore is confident that under the joint efforts of both sides, Singapore-China friendship will keep making new breakthroughs.   

Ambassador Cao arrived in Singapore on 24 March 2024, and presented the copy of his Letter of Credence on 25 March 2024.
